Tell me about yourself
I am 46 y/o wife & mother and I also work 30 hours a week as an accountant.
We have 2 girls (15 & 12) and 2 young dogs.
I have had an ongoing weight problem for most of my life.
And I have an ongoing lower back injury from a car accident in 2000.
I remember as a kid being bullied because of my size and shape.
After I had kids I did manage to lose some weight, but it slowly came back on until I was back to my biggest ever by the beginning of 2016.
What was the turning point that made you decide – YES I am going to change my body and get into shape.
I was extremely unhappy with my weight.
It was very slowly creeping up towards 90kg, I was desperate not to hit that mark, but I could not control it.
No matter what I did my weight just would not go down consistently.
I would lose a little, then immediately put it back on the next week.
I knew I was doing something wrong with food and exercise, but had no clue on how to fix it.
The turning point was when I found my size 15 jeans were getting too tight, and my back injury was becoming more acute.
I was so unhappy with my size, and shape.
I had seen the Miss Fitness Life program on facebook for a few months.
I actually signed up for the free program offered in October 2015, but did not follow it.
In Feb 2016 I signed up again and this time followed the full Nutrition and Workout Program fully.
Due to my back injury, I initially was only able to start off slow with the workouts (which was not much in the beginning).
I also wanted to lose weight because my parents were having their 50th wedding anniversary in England in September 2016.
I wanted to lose weight so first of all the flights to England are more comfortable for me, and secondly, and probably more importantly I can show off my new slim body to all my friends and family back in England!
So how long have you been following a Miss Fitness Life program
I have been following Miss Fitness Life for 18 months so far, since beginning of February 2016.
I started at 88.4kg…. I am now 58kg.
To Date, I have lost 30.4 kg.
I am now the right weight for my height, – plus since hitting the 50’s club (58kg range) I feel so healthy and awesome!
Tell me about some of physical changes that you have noticed on the program?
My clothes began to fit better within the first week.
Then Week after week the weight was falling off me
In the 18 months I have been on the program all of my measurements have decreased markedly and visibly.
My husband is very impressed!
I have been able to get back into clothes I have had in the wardrobe for years without them fitting at all.
In fact I have a couple of pairs of work pants I was not able to wear 3 months ago that are now hanging off me – too big!
What are the biggest positive changes you have noticed as a result of the being part of the program?
I have so much more energy now.
I want to get up and get going now.
I look for opportunities to exercise.
There is also a marked improvement in my emotional wellbeing.
When I am angry I would much rather go to the gym and exercise than go to the fridge to eat – which was my coping mechanism before Feb.
My overall fitness has also improved.
I recover from the cardio intervals so much quicker than before, and I have improved the strength in my back, I am able to complete parts of the workouts I only dreamed of before!
Confidence is so much better now too, I am prepared to wear more fitted clothing, and I have been able to get back into some dresses I have had in the wardrobe for 3-4 years.
I now regularly get compliments from others which is very motivating and helps me to keep going.
What part of your body did you want to change the most?
I was extremely unhappy with my whole body, but my stomach and hips were the parts of my body I most wanted to change.
My stomach was so big and bloated, I would try to hide it as much as possible and my hips just had far too much padding.
Where do you do your workouts – home or gym and how do you fit them in your schedule?
I workout at my gym – I have held a membership there for over 10 years now.
Mon, Tues, and Wed mornings I get up at 5.45 and head for the gym, complete the scheduled workouts Vix Writes for us each week and head home in time to get the girls up and off to school.
Thursdays & Fridays I head straight to the gym after work, as my girls are older I can leave them home by themselves without a problem.
On the weekend my workout schedule is a little more flexible, I either go in the morning or the afternoon depending on family plans.
I have found that starting the day with a workout really sets up my day well.
I am full of energy all day.
What is your favourite meal on the program?
Currently I love Vix fried rice with chicken.
I always load it up with heaps of green veg.
I also love the pumpkin soup with chickpeas.
It is so thick and gorgeous especially on a cold day.
Plus I enjoy the variety of all the Recipes including Delinas Dhal, Vix’s Thai Noodles, Fitgirl Hotpot, Like Chow mien and the Clusters
I also Love my Slimdown Smoothies and making the Nutty Cake, Jolly Cake, Bliss Balls and Choc Fudge Brownies with Vix’s Chocolate
When I first started last year I did some separate meals from the rest of the family.
But I soon realised it was important for me to get the whole family eating healthy real food too.
So over the first few months I introduced Vix’s recipes to the family.
What would you say to anyone who is thinking about starting the Program but isn’t sure?
Go for it! In the first 2 weeks I lost 2.5kg and I have not looked back!
I have lost over 30kg and gone from a size 15 jeans to a size 8
I could not have done it without Vix, her program and the other members of the Miss Fitness Life Community.
We might be all over the world but the support is amazing!
