Every Time I start up a new challenge I am often asked “Can I do the challenge if I am breastfeeding?
The great news for all the new mums is that it is possible to get into awesome shape while breast feeding.
Here are my Top 4 Tips for getting into awesome shape while breastfeeding..
Tip 1: When to Get Started.
You do need to give your body some time to recover after giving birth.
Always seek guidance from your doctor.
The usual guidelines for working out after giving birth are:
After a Regular Birth: Waiting 8 weeks after regular birth + doctors clearance
After a C-Section: 12 weeks + doctors clearance
How to Get Back Into the Workouts
The workouts I write are divided into Response Sets.
In Miss Fitness Life Workout Club there are 4-5 Response Sets per workouts.
In the Slim Down Challenge there are 3-4 Response Sets per workout.
Start your first week gradually: Start with just one or two Response Sets per workout (more if you are feeling great).
Build up how many Response Sets you do per workout over time.
77% of Your result comes from your Nutrition so focus on nutrition while you get stronger and stronger in your workouts.
Tip 2: Don’t Starve Yourself.
When you are pregnant it is incredibly important to ensure that you are having enough calories and nutrients.
When most people try to get into shape they over-restrict their calories and cause Stress Mode in their body.
Soon cravings, feeling hungry and lack of energy cause blowouts.
When you are pregnant there is a lot more at stake than just a failed diet.
It is really important that you get the right nutrition through:
- the nutrients in the foods you are eating
- the types of foods you are eating
- and the total amount of foods you eating
If you need more help structuring what you eat while you are pregnant follow the breastfeeding meal plan from my Response Mode program.
(It has the right calories, food choices and nutrients for both pregnancy and breastfeeding)

Tip 3: Eat Pure.
Eating pure is really important when you are pregnant.
Eating pure is also really important to get into shape, to beat cravings and to feel full.
Eating pure foods means eating nothing in a packet, nothing manufactured, nothing reconstituted, and definitely nothing labelled diet or low fat.
Vegetables, Fruit and lean proteins are the foundations of pure foods and none of them usually come in a packet.
If a food comes in a packet, check the ingredients
A Pure food generally has very few ingredients, and then only ingredients you have heard of.
When a food is processed most of the “goodness” has been removed, and a lot of nasties are added like:
- Chemicals
- Salt
- Refined sugar
I call these processed foods “Non-Foods”.
To get your body out of Stress Mode and into Response Mode swap Non-Foods for Pure Foods.
In: Pure Foods
Out: Non-Foods
TIP 4: Have a Slimdown Smoothie for a Quick, Easy way to get Pure Nutrition.
Blend Slimdown Smoothie Mix with fresh fruit and milk (dairy or non dairy) to make a complete balanced smoothie.
My Slimdown Smoothie Mix is a 100% Pure natural product.
This means no sweeteners, flavours or chemicals or any other nasties have been added.
Because Slimdown Smoothie Mix is 100% Pure and Natural it is safe to have Slimdown Smoothie Mix while breastfeeding.

Heads UP about Regular Protein Powders and Shakes.
Slimdown Smoothie Mix is a unique pure product that I have personally developed.
ALL Regular Store Bought Protein Shakes are packed full of additives, artificial sweeteners, flavours and stimulants.
Regular Store Bought Protein Shakes are not part of any of my programs.
The additives in them are dangerous when you are pregnant and I also dont recommend them at all while breast feeding.
* As always with anything new if you have any health concerns, specific medical needs or are on prescribed medication – it is always best to check with your GP or obstetrician first.
